The Spring Maiden (1999)
The association of a beautiful young girl with the Spring is very ancient; she represents the primordial Goddess in her Maiden aspect, at the time of year when animals re-emerge and plant life renews itself after winter.
The ever-young Maiden was known by such names as Flora, Hebe, Iduna, and in pre-Christian Germanic lands as Eostre, from whose name comes Easter. The butterflies emerging from her glowing hands connote the release of the soul into a world fresh with the promise of life.
