James is a close friend in Portland, OR; these images, which were among the last I had taken with a film camera, are from one of our first sessions.
As I transitioned from film to digital photography, I explored the possibilities of “found art” through multiple exposures on film, of natural environments, textures, textiles, etc, combined with photographs of models in various poses that would not necessarily have anything to do with the previous exposures. Sometimes I forgot what was on a given roll! The element of surprise lurked constantly.
This was also the year that I had acquired Photoshop for the first time and was able to add additional layering effects to the overall figural design.
